Awesome!!! I am very glad to see that Bell & Carlson is listening to the Savage community. I will be ordering a short action stock in the near future.

How soon will the LA DM Sporter stock #1017 be released? Is there a projected date?

Thanks again B&C!!!

The first run of the #1017 is happening this week. Should have a little inventory in a week or two. Official release is any day.

Thank you. I also appreciate the fast responses. I see 2 B&C stocks coming my way in the very near future!

Has anyone fitted an aftermarket DBM such as CDI, Accurate-Mag or PTG in the M40 stock.

Would be very grateful to see if they fit as well as the factory mag set up.

...and Gunner75 any plans for a LA M40!

CDI has done some of the #1012's and #1014's but I have not put my hands on one yet. I was informed by CDI it went slick and smooth. We had spoke about CDI altering there footprint to fit the factory DM footprint. CDI is waiting on demand and I think they will knock it out. Give em a shout if this is something you guys would like to see.

LA M40........................(same set up as the SA?).......................It's on the build schedule but the factory guns that come in this configuration seems to be lacking a bit. Let me know your thoughts and I will add it to the requests.
***When I speak about configuration--------What Savage Long Action model rifle is set up just like the #1012 or #1014 as far as factory bottom metal/2 pc/detachable mag top or bottom bolt release?

Also, I don't have a barreled action just yet, but when I do I plan on taking our new #1017 and opening it up to a varmint contour and posting up some pictures as there has been a lot of request on that model.

LA M40 style set up for a blind mag heavy barrel to fit the 110FPs would sure be nice.
There are a whole lot of these rigs out there still wearing factory tupperware because their haven't been many options. I've been hoping something reasonably priced and not quite as heavy or ugly as the Choate would come along.

Sounds good about the CDI bottom metal, I'll email him and ask as well.

In terms of long action stocks the best option (for me) would be a M40 style stock, side bolt release, either blind or DBM, or both. I have 3 LA Savages that started with sporter barrels but now all have varmint barrels on them. That's the best thing about owning a Savage.

looking forward in seeing the new stock #1017 opened up to take a heavy barrel.

i'm for any long action, blind mag or DBM with the side bolt release but that's just me. i don't have any bottom bolt release on my long actions. i could go for 2 stocks anyway, one for varmint and one for sporter barrel.

I would like the M40 stock offered for both the long action and short action, with DBM, for top OR bottom bolt release, and with the option of sporter barrel OR heavy barrel. I don't know if LOP is optional or not, but I would like to see that too since I use the standard 13.5" LOP for my applications, but everyone is different. I run DBM on my rifles, but also shoot different barrels.

I am actually trying to find the long action M40 with DBM for sporter barrel. I have a 280 coming together that I want to try this stock with.

Okay. I ordered a new medalist for a long action sporter barrel. Had to back order since I couldn't find my color choice available anywhere.

Why doesn't B&C offer the medalist sporter style for the Savage short actions? Why just the long actions?
I'd love to have a short action stock to try out.

Ordered a Medalist 1012 Bottom Bolt Release, black with red web from Red Hawk on Sunday, shipped Monday, received Thursday. Removed an unfired 223 rem model 16 weather warrior with hinged floor plate from its accustock and dropped the barreled action into the M40 on Friday.
(I really dislike the black accustock)

No adjusting needed for the hinged bottom plate. All action bolts did not need to be cut. The rear trigger guard screw hole needed to be drilled, but that was expected.

I did grind the rear tang area with dremel to make the tang free float. Not unexpected.

Torqued front action bolt to 30"lbs, rear action bolt 20"lbs.

B&C has a winner with this stock.

Hopefully to the range on Monday to begin barrel break-in.

#rbp75503 Sorry to drag up this thread, but I have have a similar setup sans BC M40. I have a 2015 model 10 FCP-SR 6.5 CM with accustock and just received my Burris XTR II mil SCR (backordered since Sept 2015). It sits in Seekins low rings on a Seekins 20 moa base. My cheekweld is non-existent (i'm average size I guess, at 5'9") and while prone, I have to hold my head off the stock to be able to see through the scope. I've been tossing around keeping the accustock and getting a bradley adjustable cheek rest, but am just not comfortable with the overall ergonomics of the accustock for a long range precision rifle. My question is, did the M40 improve your cheekweld dramatically and if not, would something like a triad tactical stock pack get you where you need to be?
