Tell me why? I have recently discoverd a axis nearby for 300 big ones. I have only built off of model 111s and model 10s with the blind magazines. This one for sale is in 270, if i bought it it would be made into a 6.5-06 a square/ackley...

Are they durrable? are they similar quality to what i am used to building on? tell me the new challenges of building with this model. Looking forward to your inputs! thanks!
Henry.

As long as you replace the stock with one of the laminates on the market you'll enjoy it. I haven't built on anything else, but will be building another Axis this year.

Here's mine to show the possibilities:

Original build.

After I rebuilt on a second stock.

Which stock is the second? I have an Axis in .308 and would love to replace the synthetic stock it came with.

It's an Axis ProTac made by SSS.

Any idea when these would be available for purchase? I only see the prohunter on their site.

Thanks,

That is awesome! I thought that would be the first thing to go, that ugly stock on the factory version. where did you get the magazine and do you like it? one thing i like about my blind magazines is i can load out the lands of my rifles if i want and had some issues with loading farther out on hinged floor plate models and magazine fed ones as well.

The magazine is custom built by a friend here off the forum. It's a combination of the factory mag welded to a G3 HK mag. He spends quite a bit of time tuning them so it runs very smoothly. I love my Axis I have spent time tuning every part. I just recently got everything I need to start reloading, but it has grouped under 1/2 an inch with most factory ammo I've put through it.

I've used it for both F-Class and Long Range Steel matches and compete right along side with the remmy's and all the other customs on the line. Most of them are more interested in my rifle than I am in theirs.

That is awesome! I bet as soon as you start messing around with handloads your groups will get even smaller! what do you think a used axis is worth? This one comes with some ammo it sounded like, a bipod and a scope too i think....

I got mine used as well. Usually, around the $300 range plus other components.

I actually just loaded up my first 20rds last night! Now if I can only get to the range.....

(MODS this is not an offer or sales pitch only assisting the op in determining approximate value of a rifle he may purchase)

Lonewolf, that pro-Tac stock, is it a laminate or fiberglass?

I love mine. I have yet to find a flaw in workmanship. I just went to bore sight it and didn't even have to adjust the scope. It's perfect. That tells me it is put together straight and correctly. I tweeked the trigger also, now I love that too.:cheerful: Update, I shot it and sold it the next day. What a disappointment. The thing was all over the place. I traded it in for a Ruger American.

Pretty Impressive build LoneWolf. What does that ProTac weigh? I just got an Axis in '06 and was hoping that a little extra weight would help with the beating that I might take at the range. The original stock just feels so hollow!

It's solid laminate birchwood. My rig weighs in the 13-14lbs range

I have the accessory rail, bipod boss, adjustable comb, and the butt hook. Every option offered basically.
