Well Santa Claus hung around Florida after Christmas and delivered this
extended 10 round Savage .223 mag for me!!

This thing cycles flawlessly and is fun to shot. Out of 2 - 20 round
boxes has not jammed up yet!

Now the confession.....it was not Santa but my good Floridian friend
fgw_in_fla that made it for me!

Thanks Frank, you did a GREAT job!

This is good to know as I plan on doing a 223 build this year once I get my reloading equipment in order. Frank is an awesome guy and his mags are top notch. I run 2 of his 308 mags on my rig.

It looks like an AR-15 mag body. Am I correct in assuming it is a modified AR mag?

Its a Mini 14 mag extending the Axis mag.

And you're welcome, Ken. You were quite helpful with "Project Boomerang"

It was fun, too.

PS - When ya gonna get a real scope for that rig?

Dang Frank I was hoping no one would of recognize that cheap scope I put on there just to test the mag with!
I had stole the Vortex scope off of it to test on a 25-06.... I think you remember that one! :p

Why did you decide to switch the followers out with the mod ? Did the original follower not fit the mini 14 magazine body ?

In this case, the mini 14 mag follower worked out better than the original Axis follower. Either way the follower has to be reshaped to function smoothly. I don't like to rely on recoil to help the next round slide up into position.

It's not 100% necessary to use a mini 14 / steel mag. There's guy on here (somewhere) that did one out of a plastic extension. I prefer steel or aluminum.
If you reeeeally want to get funky....
How about a 30 round AK74 mag?

By the way, it should be noted that I make these for guys here for cost of materials, parts & shipping only. I'm not a vendor of these. The idea came from another guy that quit making them when his state laws changed and I think having only 4 rounds in a mag sucks.
I don't want to get any of the bosses PO'ed at me or anyone else and I don't want to be in violation of any or the rules. For a change.

Hence, I don't "offer" these for sale. I'm strictly an Axis lover (Axis lover: See OCD, chronic, reoccurring) and like tinkering with them. I do respond if anyone asks about them via email / PM.

Just so y'all know....
