what would be one of the easiest to make, and most efficiant or best round that i could go with forming 243 brass

ok i want to shoot something made from 243 brass something easy to form or make wanting to shoot long range coyotes, paper, whatever. have thought of the 243 ai, but have also heard about soo many others out there. what do you guys shoot or think

no personal experiance with the 22-243 middstead but I imagine it would burn a barrel about like a 220 swift.

The CBX is a cartrige I designed and built, basically a 6-250 AI with a longer neck. Pushes a 107 seirra @3300 with good brass life and great accuracy.

Nice long neck on that CBX. Another good one seems to be the 6CM. I did some reading on it yesterday and it has the velocity of the 6XC but with better barrel life. As much as 3000+ rounds and still at 1/2MOA.

The 6CM is basically the same thing as the CBX. Only difference is the CBX has a 40deg shoulder and the CM Has a 30deg. The CM would be a better choice as it has dies and reamers available. The CBX you would have to have a reamer made(which doesnt cost any more if you have a print than a standard reamer) and you would have to have a sizing die reamer ground.

I used a 6-250 reamer ran deep and a seperate necking/throating reamer to cut my chamber. The sizing was done with a .243 AI die that I cut down but, it did not match the chamber well. so i had some sizing issues. Shot it in F-Class for a year and done well with it. I went back to the 6-250 AI for less trouble.

Dude, if ya got 1000 243 brass it's a no brainer-- 243AI.

You could do all kinds of things with 243 brass......just depends on how much work you're willing to do and how much you want to spend.

If you're wanting to keep the hides on a Kyote, the 22-243 Middlestead would be OutlawKyote's recommendation, and he knows of what he speaks.

Neck it up, neck it down, blow it out, push the shoulders back, or just a simple AI would be nice.

The 6mm-.284 is based on the .284 Winchester case, .243 won't work. My current favorite on the .243 -.308 case is the .270/08 AI, .270 Winchester ballistics with 10 grains less powder in a short action. It is easily formed from .243 brass and so far has proved accurate and easy to load.

the AI is easy, reamer and dies & a stock .243 barrel. but then a stock .223 barrel will make a .22-243 with the same requirements. The AI will last longer.

bob t i do understand the 284 is not the 243 just was saying i had thought of that round but have no brass for it.

22-243 and the 22-243 Middlestead are 2 different cartridges.

22-243 is just a necked down 243.

The Middlestead has a 30* shoulder and maybe blown out a bit.

.22 cal barrel chambered for 243 brass. neck down the brass with the appropriate die to hold .224 bullets.
