Ok gang!

EVERYONE is sold out of the Savage barrel nut wrench! I've got one on back order. However, I have no clue when I will receive it. Supposedly, the item will be restocked sometime next week. So! What is the next best way to remove the nut? Would you please share some of your techniques? Pictures? I've collected all the components minus the wrench. I'm ready to complete the build!

If you have an action vise and a barrel vise you can do it. You will need to replace the barrel nut if you do it this way, but you can use a pipe wrench.

Vice and pipe wrench will get it done if you do not care about marks!

A strap wrench may get enough torque on it till you get the Barrel wrench, if not a spanner wrench might work. I would definitely go back and retorque once you get your wrench either way.

Wrap the barrel nut in duct tape then use a pipe wrenck and you won't mess up the nut! ;)

Use a flat punch or drift. Put it in the groove you won't even see the mark where you hit it.
