Old Model firing pin

This goes back a couple years. I was getting FTF, sort of looking like light strikes and was told by several that it was most likely a worn out spring. Rifle is an older Model 10 Blind Magazine Stagger feed with the old style pin with the single long spring. Was very simple to disassemble.

I ordered a whole complete pin assembly from our friends at Gun Shack, along with a few other small parts.Only $100.00 worth! Everything measured the same between the old and the new so I put it all back together.

Next, it looks like tomorrow will be the only real opportunity to shoot in the near future as next week in for a heart tune-up Tuesday and an Echo Friday.. Aside, there is no way I go in on a weekend! So to see if this made a difference.

The springs never wear out or get weak. I have never found a factory spring that was below minimum specs, as matter of fact most are above maximum specs. The problem is lack of travel, resulting in lack of momentum.

Was this only an issue with the old style firing pins? I have the newer style and recently had FTF/light primer strikes. This started after I disassembled & cleaned the bolt, for the first time. Took it apart again and wiped everything down (thought I might have used too much oil). Still had issues, but not as often - about 1 out of 10 shots.

I was told this here on this forum, Accurate Shooter and TFL forum. After replacing the pin and spring rifle was fired yesterday w/o a single incident.

I dont think you described the things you did to ensure proper firing pin protrusion and cocking distance/length on the old assembly.

When ever someone brings me a FTF, I check the spring on a spring scale and have NEVER found any that were weak or outside of min. specs. An adjustment to protrusion and travel fixes the problem.
The one piece firing pins are the worst because they limit travel and are non adjustable, unless you have a lathe.
