    It's a beautiful night, so...

...I'll check outside a few times and see if any hogs may be stirring. The skies here are clear and the moonlight strong, making for great visibility. There is frequent lightning from the north, but so far, the cloud cover from those Austin-area storms has not been a factor down here. The wind is from the south -- a definite plus -- and the temps aren't too bad, either.

I'm thinking some slow-cooked pork would sure be tasty. Better yet, some battered and deep-fried tenders from a 30-35 pounder would be about perfect!

With that in mind, I'll put the MGM .223 out on the shooting rest alongside the .300 Savage. The 55 grain TTSX would be kinder to the meat on a smaller piggie (I generally won't take a head or neck shot unless conditions are perfect, and in moonlight shooting with skittish targets, such is rarely the case.)

Anything show up? I know I’d have a difficult time if we had targets of opportunities such as hogs in our area. I’d be looking out a window whenever I passed one or be sitting on the porch constantly waiting for one to appear.

Saw lots of deer and all sorts of small creatures, but the porkers were a no-show.

We're blessed not to have any on our hunting property currently. Might have to ride over to my cousins in Alabama and give my pig rig a workout soon. Living in the suburbs requires a specific opportunity for me to get after em and they don't come around as often as I'd like.
    Good luck to you.

    Thanks!

It's another beautiful night. The south wind feels cool on the skin, and the clouds that were here earlier are gone -- or at least for now. Am fighting some miserable pain right now and likely won't sleep much, so I plan on making the most of things and checking outside a few times tonight. Maybe I'll get to put a shoat on ice...

Once again, deer and smaller creatures were in abundance, but the hogs were a no-show.
