One hundred yd 1/4" dot challenge.

Got out and shot a coupe of 1/4" 10 dot 100 yd challenges this morning, one with a Savage build with a .223 Criterion 26" 1-8 barrel and the other with a Bolt action AR in .223 with a 20 inch barrel both using the same ammo. Bullets traveled 250 fps faster our of the longer barrel. Both rifles are suppressed. Don't get no better than that for an old fartosaurus. Whatta Hobby!

This challenge is great practice for all those tack driver all day guys, just don't see many trying it. Guess they don't want to waste the ammo. Always room for improvement , even for the best shooters. That 1/4" dot at 100 yds can be quite intimidating. Whatta Hobby!

So true but this in not UBR that's being considered. Just plain old standard rifle builds being shot off either bipod or front rest, more practical rifle than bench rest. Never have had a chance to shoot a real benchrest rifle or off a concrete bench. Maybe in the next lifetime. Whatta Hobby!

NF1E, that last group was impressive. I just want to shoot as good as my equipment will allow, compete against my self. I took a relatively new 223 to range to do your challenge. Did 5 of 10 but I'l get better.
A few years back I found a " fly" paper target, made by Champion targets ,#46020 25 pack. Has 19 actual fly sized flys. Head shot is 50 points, wing 30 and body is 20 points. Its a fun competition

I agree, competing against one's self is a hoot. Tried the flyswatter targets with rimfire at 50 yds. Very humbling.

I am also a solo shooter. Mainly because I have a horrible problem with my brain :) Every time I settle into a good group I choke and throw one out in the 8 ring (or worse).

Just finished this morning with a 10 round 1" group at 300yd...except for one pesky hole 3" away. Can't even blame the wind on it and vel was in the middle of the group.

I'd be tickled to death to shoot 9 out of 10 in 1" at 300 yds

If the other two groups were that good I would be too :) They were 2" and 3". Both had fliers as well.

A couple of guys I shoot against in our winter league are now shooting a 22 Rimfire league. Ran into them the other day on our 50/100yd range and they were playing a game for quarters. 15 targets, three vertical rows of five with aspirin glued to them. shooting these at 50yds!

Another for today. 1-5 but we are getting there. Max spread .25. Ammo is hand loaded 73 gn Berger target in Lapua brass over 23. gn of Varget traveling at 2750 with an SD of 6.1. If I can get the group centered on the 1/4 dot will have it made. Whatta Hobby!

One hundred yd 1/4" dot challenge.

Looks like fun, especially since I can’t shoot right now.

If I’m understanding you correctly, the dots you are shooting are .250 in diameter and at a distance of 100 yards?.

I am definitely going to miss this place when it’s gone. May have to start a Facebook account and meet y’all over there.

You might take a look at the M14BR forum. We are always trying out new target challenges on our Ranges and enjoy discussions on all types of firearms. Whatta Hobby!
