I think he’s wrong about the stock. My understanding is that the schnabel stock and side button mag release was a later variant, although there was a fair bit of overlap. Savage discontinued production when they received the contract to make Lend-Lease Enfields for England. Magazines come in two capacities, 3-round (2 inspection holes) and 4-round (3 inspection holes). I like to have spares, but they’re being offered at $100 and up these days. The Super Sporter ejection port is small, resulting in a very stiff receiver that contributes to its reputation for accuracy. The action partially cocks on opening and completes cocking on closing. The trigger is a very simple military style that is commonly dissed by trigger snobs, of which I am not one. The 250-3000 has an interesting story, but I’ve never owned one. Enjoy!
