Aftermarket trigger options for a 10-TAC (bolt release in trigger guard)

I picked up a Savage 10-TAC... the Cabela's special... a few years ago, in .308. AccuTrigger, AccuStock, and overall, a very nice rifle. Not a huge fan of the AccuTrigger, however, and I'm wondering what my options to replace it are. Searching through old posts, I see SSS triggers mentioned, but they appear to be out of production. That leaves the Rifle Basix trigger, a plus because they make one that works with my cheezy bolt release model.

    Questions:

    1) Can I just remove the AccuTrigger blade... and still maintain a safe trigger? I've heard it's possible, but that's so, I would suspect more people would be doing it if the stock trigger was otherwise good.

    2) Are there options besides the Basix trigger that I'm missing?

I have no experience with the brand, But JARD offers a Savage 110 based trigger that is advertised to go down well into the ounces range pull weight. Also, quite expensive at $260.00 ish. I agree that the SSS Competition trigger was excellent, but unfortunately out of production.

First, I would not remove the blade, especially if you adjust it to a lower setting.

You can do a simple search. Timney. Basix. Elf. The Jard is distinctive because it also replaces the stock sear (also why it is more expensive). May have missed one.

The first three would also benefit from shims when fitting the trigger. The Savage housing tends to have a bit of slop in it.

For those that don't mind the blade a decent smith can work on the stock trigger. Can also get lower weight springs and shim kits from Gun Shack, or even the Savage target trigger assy (and sear). The target triggers take a bit of 'tuning' to get them working well.

The biggest issue I've run into is the bolt release, and compatibility.... the bottom release is a bit of an orphan. The Timney requires modification. The Jard requires modification just to get it into the AccuStock... although it's looking like the best option at this point.

What is it that you dislike? Blade, pull weight, ??

I tool my Accutriggers and replaced the springs with the target springs from Gun Shack and also installed the shim kit. That lightened the pull weight and improved overall feel.

Both... I don't really care for insert triggers (like the Glock, AccuTrigger, et al...) and the vague feel to them. I've not fooled with the pull weight... it's not terrible, but it's not great, either.

You can have a safety trigger without the safety blade. If you remove the safety blade, you will need to keep the pull weight up to maintain any reasonable amount of safety when there is one in the chamber. Most simple triggers for the savage that rule applies. Proven by a butstock bump test.

A good place to start would be to pull the blade, add the trigger shims and test. Change springs to the varmint set and see if that works if the stock pull is not suffiecient. Use a thread locker/nail polish to secure the trigger return spring screw so it does not move on you and always practice extra safety when you deviate from the factory setup.
I am sorry, I may have mispoke.
