    Trigger job on 99

I have a featherweight in 308. The trigger is 5.7 pounds. How do I lighten it? I read somewhere of putting washers under the spring but not sure how's that done
    Any help would be appreciated.

A quick interweb search reveals the washer fix:

That approach is counterintuitive to me. A book recommendation has a specific 99 trigger improvement:

I found a cheap copy of the Dunlap book on EBay. It advises grinding the sear, but for the old 99s, not the 99Es. I presume yours is a 99E? Good book, in any case. Thanks for leading me down the rabbit hole.

Sorry, I misspoke. I was wondering if it was the Series A, with the stamped sheet metal trigger linkage.

5.7 lb trigger for a hunting rifle is quite acceptable for me.
