After some decades gone by years the my old RCBS universal plastic funnel is going to the recycle bin. Its had its severe abuse over the years, dropped, thrown, and crushed in drawers occasionally. But like that battery bunny it just kept working. I know Ill always spill kernels once in awhile its the nature of the beast, but with the old RCBS this last year and half its seemed if it wasn't held down with force of a gorilla and angled at exactly 183.03 degrees to the corners of the room, my reloading block ended up with enough kernels when I was done I could load another 30 grains of Varget into a case.
Actually it wasn't that bad as I would dump that round and do it again, but you get my drift.
Yep Im blabbing, bottomline... I spent 30 bucks on Amazon for a Lyman Funnel with overnight delivery to boot! Seems pretty good, but the proof will be when I use it.
What do you guys have so I can beat myself up when you say mines not worth a Nickle!

Me too - prefer metal Satern funnels and have used them for years, but I still have my original RCBS kit to fall back on.
The Lyman I got is a metal one with various size caliber tubes that screw to the bottom of the funnel. The reason I chose that is I have enough junk in the gun room without having a bunch of separate funnels taking up space. But then maybe Ill regret not having specific funnels for each caliber.Originally Posted by GrenGuy
I have no issues with static in the gun room. My house is 69 years old. The sewer system is cast iron. Thus, I have a bass sewer clean out plug just in front of my reloading bench in the basement. For me it seems like if I get anything that has a plastic static electricity build up like a funnel or the plastic powder tube for my RCBS thrower; all I need to do it touch it to that brass clean out cap. Because the cap is so close to the bench my foot is usually on it and that keeps the tarnish away on the caps corners. Heck it even removes static build up in my shop vac hose. Works so good it even removes static from my vibrator cleaner with walnut hulls in it.
I suppose I could also wrap a 18 gauge stranded lamp cord to the metal conduit going to my metal electrical boxes and touch that to anything with a static build up.
Have used my older RCBS also for many years.
Had to move to one of those metal Saterns when I bought a 17 Hornet.
They are worth the money if you have an oddball case that the generic fits all wont work on.
I have seen some nice sets out there but most don't include a 17 caliber version.
And metal is a great option if I was starting over again.
I use the Lee ones, specifically because they are see through. Can easily tell when bridged. Never had a static issue with one. I did have static issues with RCBS plastic until I cleaned it with dishwasher detergent.
I bought the Lyman set with caliber specific funnels. Stashed all of the plastic funnels I have and haven't looked back. Like that they never stick on the neck and lift the filled cartridge out of the tray, resulting in a clean up and extended period of colorful language.
I've got an Area 419 kit, caliber adapters, drop tubes, etc. that sits on my bench unused (gift from my son). My go to is the green plastic funnel that came with my mid-80s Rock Chucker kit. Has a nice graphite coating from years of use and very, very rarely any static issues, wife's dryer sheets are just down the hall if needed.
Larry, I have the same Lyman set that you have and really like it. Much better than the plastic RCBS funnel. The interchangeable pcs by caliber give it a much better fit on the brass and no spills. I think you will be happy with it.
i bought a set of 4 aluminum ones from K-Mart out of cookware many years ago. Had to modify one to fit
the .222. The largest one was for pouring powder back in the can or adding oil to the truck.....LOL Truck is
gone but still using the same funnels.

A few years back, bought a set of 4 high $$$$ aluminum reloading funnels from Extreme Hardcore. Wouldn't fit my wildcat cases so I sent them a note asking if they could (FOR A $$$$ FEE) modify them to fit my case necks. COULDN'T BE BOTHERED!!! Took maybe 5 minutes to load them up and send them back for a refund and, I made sure EVERYBODY knew how I was treated!!
Found another close match from Hart. Same issue, wouldn't fit my case necks. Quick note asking if they could modify them to fit for a FEE???? HELL YES. Send them back and we'll fix you up at NO CHARGE!!! Guess who gets MY BUSINESS???

B*** S*** story? Got a new roof put on my house. No questions asked, just do what you need to get it done right!! Figured the price + a few issues that I expected ahead of time. The workers were using a bright yellow GIZZOM that fit in and over the new installed rain gutters that kept a ladder from crushing the gutters. Pretty slick!! HAD TO HAVE ONE!! Made in China, sold in Canada but NOT imported into the U.S. ???? Probably something to do with import restrictions? Found one in Canada, put in My Cart but when it came time to pay, WILL NOT IMPORT to the U.S.of A. Where there's a will there's a way.
Found a forum member (not THIS forum) that lived in Canada, asked if he would go on a shopping trip for me?
The place where I found the GIZZOM was about 30 minutes from his home. He and his wife took a little ride for me, bought what I wanted and sent it UPS to me in California. The item cost something like $45.00. I ended up paying close to $300.00 for the item AND his trouble. I got what I wanted and he and his wife got to go out to a NICE dinner!! I think I got off pretty cheap. No pass port needed, no Air Fare and no long road trip trying to find something in a place I know nothing about.
Like I said, never concerned about COST to get what I want. I twisted his arm to take the $$$$ but I ended up being happy and so did He.
Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have.

If I were to buy new today they would probably be caliber specific Satern.
I make mine case specific by bedding the funnel to the case. They never tip over or leak.

Make sure you let us know how it goes. I have that one collecting dust on my bench. I prefer my old green rcbs that's black from years of use. Lightweight, the size specific collet means you have to lift straight up. All that stuff.
Once you get used to it, it's great. Also, it works for short neck cases with a sharp shoulder. If I load 22-250 AI I have to use it.
You'll either love it or hate it in my experience.
