Keep at it, you'll find what the rifle/stock combo likes.

Got it down to about a 2 inch group. I'll work on filling pores in the stock and then bed it. Just have spent to much time on it right now.Too much to do. Then work up a load. Got 6 months to deer season so still have plenty of time.

Just an update . Got receiver bedded with a very light bedding. Free floated barrel full length. Just have to load up some bullets to test. It finally stopped raining, so I should be able to get out this week. I'll get some pictures.

ID:	11584After bedding the Monti Carlo stock I tried some 165 grain vs 180 round nose. 165 wins. As far as being a light weight the Monti Carlo adds 5 oz and the heavier scope added another^ oz.What first got me interested in this rifle was how light it felt. I've changed scopes to a 1.5x4x20 and tried it back in the original stock and it weight was 7lb6oz!
So I may trim down the Monti Carlo to loose the weight . The original stock is in such good shape I'm going to keep it on the side for now. Maybe sell it, not sure.I guess there isn't a real collector value in it unless someone was really into old Savages.
I found 3 spots where the barrel was just barely touching so a little more in letting and now some load development .
