    Non-factory engravers

Hi. First post. Are there any engravers commonly known to have done that work on Savage 99's that perhaps were not using factory designs? I saw an item in a current auction that cited Ronald Coburn as the engraver. I have a similar gun in for assessment now that looks quite similar, which and am trying to get more clarity on. Stylistically it's more deep relief cut, silver band around the edge of the action and barrel engraving, gold animals, claw mount bases, initials of MKQ inlay on the belly above a stag head. When I get a service to host pictures, I will link some.

    Thanks!

Considering Ron Coburn was a senior engineer at Smith & Wesson and later CEO of Savage for 20+ years before retiring in 2013, I highly doubt he had much time to take up engraving much less engrave many guns to that extent. Best source I've seen for info on Savage engravings on 99's are the books by David Royal.
