    Loctite or Anti-seize or ?

    Do we have some sort of 'sticky' or FAQ related to this? On which screws/nuts/bolts etc. would you use either or none?

    Some ideas;
    1. Barrel threads
    2. Barrel nut
    3. Scope mounts screws
    4. Action bolts

    (etc., etc.)

    Thanks!

    Anti-seize on the barrel and nut is the only hard and fast rule I have. I usually leave all the others bare.

    Unless you plan on taking a barrel on and off 300 times, no anti seize is needed.

    I use a scant drop of Loctite 222 on scope base, mount, and ring screws everything else is dry.

    I agree with PhilC.

    If you are torquing bolts to spec or slightly higher with most calibers, the screws or bolts won't come loose.
    I would never use Loctite on a barrel, they are torqued to over 40 to 45 ft-lbs. or more and are very tough to get loose when you try to change them with just grease on the threads.
    I torque my scopes to 20 in-lbs. and use a very small amount of Loctite on the scope rail bases and on the rings, after having them loosen after years of heavy use.

    I can't speak for a really heavy recoil caliber and I never load anywhere near Pmax, so if you are shooting 416 Rigby or .338 Lapua, my advice would be worthless.
