I have an old model 99 that I need to develop a reload for. I had a gunsmith check it out and seems to be in good condition. I picked up some PPU brass and plan on using Alliant RL-15 and was looking at using Hornady 150 Gr. FMJ-BT bullets. However, during my work on this reload I'm finding that the FMJ-BT bullets are maybe too long. When I set the bullet so the top of the brass is matched with the cannelure I'm measuring and OAL of 2.700". Done some reading and see that the specs say max OAL is 2.520" but seem some users going with 2.600" and also seen some reload data for heavy bullets that has shown OAL of 2.800". Does anyone know what the actual max OAL is for the rotary magazine?
Thanks, John M

I was able to buy some Hornady 150 Grain round nose bullets and when set with the cannelure at the top of the brass I end up meeting the 2.520" OAL requirement. Load a bunch with various loads of RL-15 and will be chronoing them as soon as the weather cooperates. Will post my results then.
Thanks, John M
