Good start. What Sierra bullet did you use. Those short cases and shorter ranges always had me using
the Sierra 53 gr flat base SMK. The real short boat tail 52 gr SMK was my go to in the 222.....What powder
are you working with, and are you jumping or jamming ??

My best 5 shot group, @ 100 yards, off the bench measures .110". Wallet target.
Learned that the .221 Fireball wouldn't feed worth SQUAT on a Savage action as a repeater so went single feed and never looked back.
That is on a "J" action so not sure about any other set ups. Single feed solved LOTS of problems.
