1990s era 110s in 223 and 308 dressed up like police tacticals in park and O.D. stocks.....?

I was an FAL and AK type, back in the day, not a bolt gun guy but I remember seeing these and thinking they were neat. Now that my interests have changed, wouldn't mind havin' one o' them in 223 but don't see 'em anywhere. Did I imagine those or are they rare?

Sorry had to edit. The ones I remember were later, 2018 era. I think they were 10FCP SR, SRT or something like that. There was one with an aftermarket stock on it, McMillan or HS precision? Don't remember if it was AICS mag or not. Don't remember if they came in .223 but there was a .308 cause I almost bought one back then. (got a 12BVSS instead).

Here are a couple of flat tops from that period. .223 on top and .308 on bottom. As they stand today with a few updates. Whatta Hobby!

I have a 10FPLE2A .223 in a Choate stock that was listed as a Savage Police Sniper Rifle thus the " LE" designation. They came in .223 and .308.

A while back ( mid to late 90s) Savage even offered a law enforcemant package setup that came from the factory with a Leupold VariX3 a Harris bipod and a Pelican case. They came in both right and left handed versions. Seem to remember they were about 550 or 600 bucks. That was a big pile of cash for a workin man with a family back then, just the FP was running about $300-350 back then. So of course I didnt order one of the packages.
I saved and saved and did buy my dream rifle a 116FLCSSAK in 30-06 for 425 out the door. Still got it and still my favorite.

I had a ,223 exactly as you described, serial # F103xxx, made in very early 1991. Factory installed Choate composite plastic stock, 24 inch heavy barrel w/recessed target crown, internal magazine, matt blued (nicer than true Parkerizing). FYI, all of those early generation 110FP rifles had the standard length action, with spacers added to the magazine to ensure reliable feeding/ejection of short action sized cartridges, like the .223 and .308. I have also seen them in .30-06. In Savage designation of that time the "F" meant composite stock and the "P" stood for Police. The early models also had fully adjustable triggers, but where later dropped. As the FP series evolved, Savage started offering them with improvements. like metal stock pillars, Titanium nitride bolt bodies, and various aftermarket stocks (HS precision, McMillan, etc.). Savage also offered true short action receivers, the Accutrigger, and detachable magazines. I think they were fairly rare/limited production in those early years, and the factory offered them as complete Police packages with scope, bipod and heavy duty cases. My .223 version had a 1 in 12 twist, so was limited to bullets around 62 grains or less, but was amazingly accurate with 55 grain handloads and typical accuracy tweaking. As heavier .223 bullets became poular the twist rate was increased to 1 in 9, and I think the current models in .223 are 1 in 7.
