    Sling swivels

Has anybody installed a barrel clamp mounted style forward sling swivel on their 99? On my gun I simply do not trust the small diameter forearm mounted sling attachment. I have tried it and can't really keep it tight. I think the stress on the small diameter screw is too much. The barrel is slightly tapered. How do you handle this?

I don’t disagree with your mistrust. I have not used a clamp mount on a barrel, but I have used several on magazine tubes. It can be challenging to get enough clamping force for a reliable grip. They are clamped by a single screw at the center that allows for the slight taper of the barrel.

I went ahead and mounted mine with a coat of blue locktite. I will see how it holds up.
