Front Spring question on Savage Axis 30 06

I recently purchased a savage axis bolt action 30-06 for my son for his birthday. When I got the gun the cocking piece was in the wrong position. When I was trying to get it into the correct position, the cocking piece fell out and I could not get it back in. Tryin to figure it out, I took the bolt a part and incidentally lost the front spring

But they are out of stock at kinnesshootingsupply.com I have not been able to get ahold of savage, but it seems that I found the same one at gunshack: https://www.gunshack.com/savage-mainspring-1-front-2018

Before I purchase, i just want to make sure the front spring available at gunshack will fit my 30 06 savage axis.

Yes. That is the same spring.

When reassembling, I don't think you can put it back together in the cocked position. Just put it together with the cocking piece in the forward position and cock the bolt by hand. This is done by pushing the cocking piece up the ramp til it locks in place in the rearward spot.

Be warned, it's really hard to do with just your thumb. If you have a metal bench, use that to push the cocking piece up the ramp.

Perfect. Thank you very much for this information! Which way does the pointy end go? Towards the cocking piece?

Yes the pointy end goes towards the bolt face. There is a channel that the pointed end will go on.

You can also back the BAS screw off a couple turns to take some of the tension off the springs to get it into the cocked position.

That won't work on an Axis because of the tail end of the firing pin. You have to assemble uncocked.
