I took my stock off for a few reasons. I have been considering changing the stock out to a laminated wood one, so I needed to measure the floor plate to get an exact length (old vs new) for a Boyd's stock. It's the first time I've done this on this particular firearm. I had it in my lap, and as the second action screw came out, the action came out the bottom. I caught it, but the stock then turned sideways and the floor plate and screws fell to the floor.
I picked everything up, but there is a small round piece that I have no idea where it goes (or if it even came from this firearm). It may have been on the floor from something else, but before I shoot my 22O slug gun again, I want to ensure this part doesn't belong in the firearm. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea where else this part would have come from.
I found my owners manual and read the part on removing / replacing the stock. This part was not mentioned. It’s also not in the parts diagram, so I’m thinking it doesn’t belong in this gun. But when I asked on Facebook on a Savage 220 page, someone said theirs had it and it was an “action screw spacer”. There’s only two action screws, and there is no way this goes between the stock and the action. There is no room for it. He said he would get back to me and never did.
Anyone know for sure?
All the best,
Glenn
Sorry - I’m new here and adding pics isn’t working like I thought it would. Hopefully linking the FB post will work:

Pictures didn't work but you can find an illustrated parts breakdown for the 220 at GunPartsCo - https://www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-man...guns-sav/220-2
If it's a thin washer, it's probably a spacer for the rear action screw. Might go between the trigger guard and bottom metal, or may go between the stock and trigger guard. Won't hurt anything if you don't put it back in, things just won't be flush/even somewhere.

Thank you. Unfortunately, GPC doesn’t have a 220 slug gun schematic. The one you posted is for a 220 single shot shotgun. Scrolling through the main gun list though, there is a picture of what looks like the exact part under the heading “237”. I scrolled through that shotgun part list to find it, and it’s labeled as a “Striker Bushing”, which is not listed on my parts list for my 220 slug gun.
All the best,

It’s a thick bushing, chamfered on one end. The front action screw fits into the center of it and is long enough to protrude on both ends, but the rear action screw is about the same overall length of the bushing. There is no room for it to fit into either spot. It’s probably about 1/2” to 3/4” inches in height (I’d have to measure it to be sure).
All the best,
Glenn
Update: I figured it out. I took the trigger guard and base plate back off, and there is a perfect little cut out for it under the base plate where the rear action screw goes through. But with the base plate and trigger guard in place, you will never see it. I was thinking it went on the inside of the stock. It actually installs from the outside when the trigger guard and base plate are fully removed. Odd thing is - that part is nowhere in the parts diagram of the manual that came with my gun. Not shown online either.
All the best,
Glenn
