A 222 mag Ackley will be awesome!
I have read the 6.5 JDJ is a propriety cartridge so its trademarked and cant be made by any other manufactures and called the 6.5 JDJ but Ive also heard the 6.5 JDJ and the 6.5x.225 Winchester Improved 40 are one and the same, just different in the name only and they can be made by other die makers. Maybe someone else on here can confirm.

I think the 222 mag Ackley will be a fun round. Its basically the same as the 223 Ackley but I dont know anyone that has a 222 mag Ackley. It will be going in a TCR in 223 ill have rechambered.

I use a set of CH 22 x 225 Imp. 40 to load for my 226 jdj. Good quality dies.

Someone posted about their 222 RM AI in the Ackley Improved FB group last month. It was a Rem 700. I don’t recall ever hearing of another before. Will you be using 204 Ruger brass or did you find some 222 RM ?

Nosler has 222 mag brass available but its in 250 round packages so im debating if i wanna get the Nosler and sell some of it or go the 204 route.

This project is still in the planning stages so not committed to anything just yet.

I have tried 204 brass on several cartridges to thin in the neck, either get the magnum brass or try Starlines 223 blank brass way more work but it really makes a tough case, do you have a 226 JDJ ?

Thanks for that information, I was leaning towards the 222 mag brass anyway. I will check out Starlines brass

I don't have the JDJ 226, I'm planning on using a 222 mag Ackley reamer for this.

I have a 226. Was just demonstrating that CH improved dies based on the 225 win case are interchangeable with the jdj 225 based cartridges

There was some Remington 250 Sav brass on Gunbroker a couple weeks ago that was reasonable. I picked up an SSK 6x47 barrel some time back from HOA, which has been a desire of mine for awhile. I started collecting brass and got the dies years ago, so I didn’t need to grab anymore on GB. I hope you go through with your project idea, it should be interesting.

The 20” SSK 6.5 JDJ barrel arrived safely yesterday. Thanks to snowsnake for pointing out the sale on these.
