Hello All! First time poster( 4th post), long time lurker.
I've been building/shooting long range / precision AR type rifles for WAY to long and looking to get into bolt actions. Unfortunatelyfor me, idk much about the bolt action world but im willing to learn and have been trying to read up on as much as possible. I have a Savage 110 in 7mm rem mag that's been sitting in my safe for 10+ and never shot. I've decided to do a "build" off it but swap to 7mm prc. I'm not trying to make this some $5k end all be all rifle, more so something affordable to get use to bolt actions.
That being said, here is roughly my build. If I'm forgetting something or maybe going to "extra", id gladly take some advise. Overall goal with this rifle is a long*er* range rifle *1300-1500+* but also get good accuracy.
Action is just a bone stock LA 7mm rem mag with accu-trigger. i havent decided on a trigger yet. i dont mind the accu-trigger but i know there is better out there.
upgraded extractor kit (kinneys), desh bolt lift kit and a factory savage 110 tactical bolt knob.
Barrel is a 24" criterion heavy Palma 1:8 twist (30 cal suppressor will live on this rifle for now that was on my 308AR) from Northland, that will also have a upgraded recoil lug and barrel nut. **do i go direct thread or put a brake on it ? I always figure a break with a suppressor kinda acts like a sacrificial 1st baffle.
Chassis is a accurate-mag.com sport tac range chassis *getting a really good deal on it* this will let me also swap from an internal magazine to box.
So far so good.
I would research triggers for one you'd like. Several to choose from and other threads have plenty of info on them.
Don't understand the suppressor/brake statement. It's an either one or the other. If you mean the brake is inside the suppressor, but, then it doesn't act as a brake. Seems to me an extra expense for no gain.

Stay with your trigger, nothing wrong with it!
With money saved on not swapping out the trigger; make arrangements with Sharp Shooter Supply, ( http://www.sharpshootersupply.com/) to have the entire action with trigger trued and timed. Fred will rework it for you, and you'll be amazed how it works and how much more accurate it will be.
I would go with a brake for your barrel. You can always not use it by just instaling a brake nut. Or use it. Only your targets will tell you which way to go.
Don't forget to get a barrel vice, it cost more but if you have a super tight barrel you'll be glad you did.
FORGET THE DESH BOLT LIFT KIT! Save your money again and have Fred time and true it you;ll be amazed how easy Freds expertise allows the bolt to work.
If you are going to make this a bench gun and not use it for hunting. Consider making it a manual single load. Cost is nominal and extractor pin/spring is removed the hole is then welded over and the bolt face is reworked.

I did reach out to Fred but he said he is taking a pause during the holidays so nothing gets lost in the mail. Does anyone know what his turn around time is? I havent purchased anything yet except the bolts handle and extractor kit. I figured if his turn around time is "quick" , while i wait for stuff to show up, I can send the action off.
Little update.
Chassis came in. Went with the accurate-mag sport tac prs.
Great chassis. Solid. But did need a small bit of 'smithing done to it. Nothing bad though. The left side where the pin goes through for the safety/bolt release was rubbing on the stock. Small file and a few strokes fixed that.
Bolt/action body was done up. Beyond night and day difference. Did add a Savage tactical bolt knob though.
No trigger upgrade yet. I got some new springs and did alittle trigger work.
Just waiting on a barrel.
I'd report back to the stock maker so they can adjust their process for the next folks. For some it can be a simple code change on a CNC machine or adjusting a stock pattern just a tad. Some will welcome the feedback, others may get 'testy'.
Does aziroc come from car racing? As a kid I used to go out to PIR to watch SCCA regionals.
I did talk to the manufacturer and they did ask for photos, which I sent. They welcomed the feedback. They did admit they get alot of actions...savage isn't one of the ones they get alot of.
Yes, I got a 86 iroc back when I was in high school (25+ years ago) but still have it. I'm out near PIR and have been there many many time. Very nice track.

Only 25yrs ago? :) Yeah, the folks in the area didn't like the idea of PIR when it was built, but, it was far enough out in the boondocks they got it approved anyway. Now days it is crazy how things have spread out. When I grew up in Glendale there were several miles of farmland between us and Phoenix (1960's). Phx population was 600,000.
Loved going to the drags at PIR in the mid-70s, Puyallup International Raceway that is.
