Greetings all. I just picked up a couple of Montgomery Ward Western Field stamped Model 30's. One in 16 ga, with the double hump receiver and the suicide safety. The other is a 20 ga flat top with a tang safety. The 20 is marked 2.75"; the 16 has no chamber length designation, so I and wondering if it is 2.75" or 2-9/16" The 16 has had the buttstock replaced at some point with a not quite correct stock, it mostly fits and seems solid enough to shoot, but I would like to get a new set of furniture for this one. There are a few other minor little issues with the guns, but all-in-all they are solid field use shotguns that lock up tight and appear safe to shoot. I understand that these are Stevens-made 520 models that were branded for MW as a store brand back in the day. So, I'd like to know more about them, year made, parts interchangeability, etc. I found one thread on here where a user named OkiMarine (SF brother) had put together a comprehensive list of the records he was able to piece together and that it was housed on the GunValuesBoard.com site, which is now defunct. Does anyone know if this information is still available and could you send me in the right direction? Any information would be useful. I'd really like to get these two scatterguns tightened up a little and put back into service. Thank you in advance.
