    DNT Optics ThermNight

I've been contemplating getting a new Thermal/Nightvision scope for my AR and this little gem has my full attention. I've owned an ATI Thor five years ago and enjoyed what it offered, but was too big and bulky and somewhat difficult to move around from the menu options.

I've been watching this unit from DNT, the 225R pretty closely and see now that they have an even newer versions out, the 335R and the 635

    This youtube site,

has a series of videos that go thru the scope that have been very informative

This is a run thru of the newest that isn't available.

Anybody with any experience with these DNT scopes?

Not familiar with the DNT stuff but I have nothing but good to say about Bering Optics, AGM, or Infiray. All are great quality units. Never needed it but infiray came with a 5 year 2 week turnaround warranty and has crazy long battery life. Others soon followed with longer warrantys as well. Ive often heard said that friends dont let friends buy ATN.
Dark night outdoors is having some killer black Friday sales and super helpful on figuring out just what you need if you call em. Not affiliated just a happy customer. Free shipping and no sales tsx outside Illinois can sava a good bit of cash.
Good luck and I hope you do your research and get the best suited thermal for you.
Havent reslly looked into the multispectral stuff but 256 doesnt seem like much resolution to me.
When I originally posted i was thinking you were looking at thermal not multispectral which I have no experience with. I would however be a little skeptical at that price point but hey who doesnt love a deal. If you do get one be sure and post a review or update.Id like to know how it works out.

A lot of features with a very small price tag (for thermal & n vision) would make me very cautious. Add in the fact that 65 people have reviewed it and the lowest rating it was given was 4 stars by 4 people..... something very fishy. The very best products out there still usually have a few people who were not smart enough to put the batteries in the right way and gave it 1 star.

I was intrigued and looked around. Most of the reviews I saw were for air rifles. Ive seen no reviews from any of the major players or purveyors that I trust like the late night vision show etc. Some of the descriptions I read sounded as if the reviwer can see better through it than what Ive experienced with much more well known brands that have way better specs on paper all around and price tags to boot. Definitely sounds too good to be true, color me skeptical.
If you have any trusted reviews or sources please post em up. I'd love to be wrong. Competition in the industry is a good thing.

I think the reason for the large number of reviews by those using air guns has to do with they are a company with heavy ties to the Untied Kingdom and gun ownership over there is pretty much non existent. It was only a matter of time until the Uber high dollar thermal/night vision market got blown wide open by company's with new ways to skin a cat. I've watched dozens of reviews, many in America and they pretty much all rave about the product. My entire career was computers and digital electronics, so this has been right up my alley. Showed this to my LGS who is also a pulsar dealer. He was very interested in that most customers can't afford the pulsars, but could afford this. Tons of coyote/hog/deer hunters here, so a large potential market exists. He was going to inquire about becoming a dealer, so I should have more info next week.

Looks like a great multispectral scope and at a great price.
My only concern is it only uses unprotected flat top 18650 batteries.
In this day and age, why not use a protected, more powerful and longer lasting button top 18650 battery ?
    For this reason I'm out.

I run the 18650 flat tops in my Iray Bolt and have had no problems. I bought extras but have been able to hunt all night in the cold with my unit and one single 18650 seems to provide plenty of power and the others just ride in my pocket all night doesnt really even get into the built in battery banks charge and just runs on the 18650 aux battery.
Pretty sure the only difference in the 18650s is whether or not they have the button on top as long as you choose the same amp/hour rating.

Now how much power this new optic consumes I have no way of knowing as battery life was one of my criteria when choosing the Infiray.
You might not find em at the local quickie mart but I ordered quite a few online before realizing how long they lasted and they were quite reasonable. A whole lot more reasonable than many of the propratary packs required by several other thermal optic manufacturers.

Good luck and i hope the OP will update with a review on this optic after some use.
