Does the mag latch look like this or is it different

New to Savage guns. I'm having a bit of trouble identifying the correct magazine for the gun. Also, I've noticed that the release on the mag that came with the gun is a bit different from a lot of the releases that are shown in the pictures. 1. Did Savage change the release and 2. Is the magazine the 5532 mag for the gun? Any help would be appreciated.

I am sorry, I may have mispoke.
Looks like the bottom one. The release for the mag is different between the two.
The bottom one is the newer style, but both should function fine.
The pictures that Robinhood posted; the first one is the original old style. They can still be found in new packaging though they have been replaced by the "New" version in the second picture. From what I understand was because of the plastic clip breakage in extreme cold weather.
A word of caution on these two magazines that I found out from personal experience. The "New" model will fit and latch in the old models that use the plastic bottom metal design. The "old" models will fit but WILL NOT latch in the new stocks that do not use the removable plastic bottom metal. In my case it is a new Model 110 Switchback. The old magazines will not latch.
Actually, The top being the 3rd and the bottom the 4th generation. As I have experienced it and I may have missed the earliest.
This is what I know to be the second generation:
And the first generation had a button on the side of the stock with a stagger feed magazine(slightly different than the internal mag.
The information here is dated but someone went to the trouble of making an article to help with the older stuff.

Indeed, I do not think of those in the same sense as the first pictured as those in your second post are all used with th release on the bottom metal and not on the magazine. So yes you are technically correct.
