FINALLY found a great bipod!

Over the years I've had a number of bipods on my AR's and found that most of them were decent, some more than others. Precision shooting has been a real learning curve for me coming from the world of AR's. so when I bought my Axis Precision, I immediately found out they weren't going to work out for precision shooting. The problem is simple, far too much movement. They are designed to be "loaded" prior to shots to absorb recoil. This might work for some shooters style, but not mine.

I looked long and hard, watched endless "bipod shootout" videos, and decided to just bite the bullet and bought an Accu-Tac BR4 ARCA bipod and an 8 inch ARCA rail to attach directly to the MDT Oryx's M-Lok chassis. The ARCA attachment allows for quickly changing to my tripod when coyote hunting.

This thing is built like something designed for Harley motorcycles. Compared to the others I have owned, it's total overkill. It's incredibly sturdy. When locked in place, there's zero movement fore/aft and right to left. It will cant, but not pan which is exactly what I have been looking for. The legs are easy to manipulate and go 45, 90, and 180 degrees.

I hate carrying bags, just too much weight. There are lighter bipods but they sacrifice the aspects I wanted, for weight.

After shooting, I'm very impressed. The bipod being physically creates a big difference in stability.

I've been out with it 3 times, shot over a 100 rounds and my "flyers" have virtually disappeared. I have believed that most flyers were my fault. Moving the rifle slightly when pulling the trigger. I'm not seeing that now. It's a rock solid platform with almost zero movement when set.

It wasn't cheap, but what about this rabbit hole is?

Pics ??.....Another thing about any bipod is, getting a good balance. Get it out as for as you can.
This cuts down how much the muzzle will move in a circle. Teeter totter effect. The pic I'm posting
was my speed steel bench rifle. Fired from a bench, you had 90 seconds to knock down five 2MOA
plates at all yardages. The 100 yard and 200 yard plates had rope tails so they could be found.....LOL
All shots fired from the shoulder, No rear bag permitted. I used the military GGG compact extended,
plus my rifle had an additional extension to maximize bench length.. Pa. woodchucks hated this rifle.....

I went with the ARCA specifically to have the flexibility to move the bipod forward or back as conditions would dictate. My rail is 10" long, which extends 5" beyond the M Lok slots on the chassis.

It's remarkably stable. MDT must have thought about that in the design of the chassis. It's marketed by Savage as a precision rifle and it's apparent a lot of forethought went into it. Went out this morning, ran 50 rounds through it in 5 round groups and had 1 shot that was outside the 1MOA grid. Most were .75 or less. Not bad for me. Shooting the Hornady 55grFMJ SP bullets with Alliant 1200R powder. Loading some 60gr SMK''s & IMR 8208 and 69Gr RMR's/Varget today.
