    Discusion...MONKEYS!!

Yeah, the south already has an issue with hogs...now 43 Monkeys are running around SC.

How would you round up 43 monkeys? I would not, I would tell people they are an invasive species and they need shot on sight.

When I go shooting, I pass by the "monkey farm" at Yemassee. Unless the animals return or stay near the research facility, they will not be caught.

The fact that there is a monkey farm is an issue in itself.. what do they use them for? Like up here in Pa there’s some Alpaca farms, but they sell their wool kinda like sheep. But Monkeys?
Not to mention most Alpaca farms will let you bow hunt cause they do not like deer due to the deer ticks.

So it’s deer season in SC and there’s monkeys running around.. can pretty much figure out what is gonna happen to them..lol

in the 70s my Dad worked for Mayo Clinic. He tended monkeys, rats, dogs, cats, rats, hemophiliac hogs, and others. Some were drug tests, Others practice before your turn at surgery. Some had there eyes used to test cosmetics instead of just buying us beer.
NASA also had some chimps there before flights started. They got to ride a centrifuge. They were able to brake out of jail cells and rip the lock off the refrigerator that fruit was stored in. Wood 4X4s were wedged between opposed cell doors afterwords. That shook dad a bit and He eventuality found a different line of work.

Without test animals we would not have the medicines we have today. As mentioned test animals teach young scientist how to start on their career. They also assist in advance mechanical inventions.

I understand that. What I don't understand is when an invasive species gets loose, why don't they ask the public to kill on sight. No one does anything until they start reproducing. Guess I am showing my age as I am confident that is what they would ask in the 60's and 70's. Don't get me started on wolves!

In this case supposedly all 43 were female. Now I can imagine some animal rights person letting go a male to keep the ladies company!

Thanks wbm! Rhesus Macaque's. Better than a chimp or baboon for sure.
