Currious what size rings you have and how the wheeler doesn't perform. I get maybe the alignment part but as far as lapping goes...?
I’m trying to find a high quality scope ring lapping tool and alignment tool kit. Something more precise than wheeler. Anyone know of a good one?

I am sorry, I may have mispoke.
I bought Sinclair many years ago, can't vouch for them being the same quality under Brownell's ownership.
Use high quality rings, and you shouldn't ever need to lap them.
Ive been using Wheeler's for decades and it has worked fabulously for me on dozens of quality scopes and rings. Whatta Hobby!

you don't need to lap your rings in 2024
I'm with NF1E on this one, my Wheeler has worked fine for years. I do try to use one-piece mounts when I can
You could mic your tube and have a machinist trim a 10" or 12" piece of steel or cast iron. cut it about .002" or .003" small. Drill and tap a hole in the middle for a handle to twist it with.

I can't help you with a recommendation for a good lapping kit, but I will share this: Back around 2006 or so, I switched to Warne rings and now use them almost exclusively. They are rugged, reliable and have never given me a reason to lap them. Mounted properly, they will never leave any markings on a tube, either. I had one particular Conquest 3-9x40 that was mounted and remounted about a dozen times over the years, and the tube still could have passed for new. For my own usage, I wouldn't consider putting a nice scope into anything but Warne rings.
This is how scopes look after removing them from Warne rings:
Some say they don't like the looks of split verticals. This is what they look like in use:

The bad thing about those rings is that you can not remove a scope from one rifle to another without having to level it again. It becomes a pain- vs other rings that you can get the scope leveled and move it between other rifles with ease. They do seem to hold well and be good quality- but many other rings that are just as good and wont damage your scope... (also- depends on the brand of scope as some are very thin and how tight you wrench on them).
While I use their "permanent" variety, Warne does offer quick-detach rings.
