That's high. I picked up an encore with 4 barrels and scopes for less than 2g not to long ago. Frames are going for around 600 and barrels for about 300. I'm waiting for T/C to put out new stuff next month to see what the new ones will cost.
I ran across a Blued Encore the other day. It could be either a 7-08 or 308 for the retail asking price of $1,200. I am guessing $1,500 might get it with both barrels. It is pretty much in like new condition. I was a little surprised that an Encore was that expensive. New TC Barrels were under $400 not all that long ago. I would prefer Blued over Stainless in an Encore. Never owned a Blued Encore.
By the time that you have Stratton do a Trigger Job, and have a Harrell's Muzzle Brake installed. Then round up some wood furniture. That is getting very close to a used Nosler M48 or an XP100 or clone, or possibly even more expensive.

Prices are crazy everywhere, but that still does seem quite steep to me. Also, right now things don't seem to be moving all that swiftly in the used gun arena -- at least not around here.
Earlier this year, a local was selling his blued Encore with a .250 Savage (factory) barrel. The stock was the plain factory composite offering. I don't recall the power range (think it was 3-12x50 but won't swear to that), but it had a made-in-Japan Weaver Grand Slam scope on it, and he was offering three boxes of Rem factory ammo with it. After a number of weeks of not selling for his $850 asking price, he finally let it go for $675. All things considered, that was a pretty decent deal.
Agree, that's way high, at least in our area. I'd expect to pay around $800 for a complete rig, wood and all.
My local dealer probably spends way to much time on Gun Broker shopping prices.

That price is pretty steep. I don't need anymore Contender/Encore barrels or frames but I am anxious to see how things go for the revival of TC. I have been shooting these things since the early 70s. My glory days are far behind me now.
I had Four Encore's at one time. All Stainless, a 7.62x54R, a 260 Rem, a 356 Winchester, and a 223 Rem. I traded them all off when I went to Nosler M48's. My M48's ended up being a 22 Nosler, and a 6.5 Creedmoor. I would have preferred that the 6.5CM had been a 308 or 7-08 over the 6.5 if that had of been an option. Nosler must chamber about 90% in 6.5 and 6 Creedmoor.
I kept all of my Contenders. The Blued Encore would be a nice addition if cheaper. Also the 7-08 and 308 barrels would scratch an itch that I have had. I will think more on this. It is not like I really need another one.

Prices are starting to come down somewhat Bob, even on Gunbroker. I just put together a blued Encore pistol in .308 and by shopping around and wheeling and dealing a little I'm in at $600.00 without optics. That includes synthetic and walnut furniture both, no trigger job or muzzle brake.
It's better to shoot for the moon and hit the fencepost than to shoot for the fencepost and hit the ground!
BobT you are into that right.
ON GB I noticed a 45/410 with all Walnut Furniture at a starting bid of $600. No Bids so far. Not a bad deal if one could get it for around $600, then come up with some useable barrels. I know where several Blued Encore barrels are at for sale.
I found Blued frames from $300 - $500 starting bids, with no bids so far.
One Blued Frame was $535 on buy now.

Hey Bob, I was killing time before my appointments at the VA clinic today and decided to check out a local gunshop. I saw an Encore there, 209x50 priced at $700.00, pretty nice looking blue gun with camo furniture. The fellow behind the counter talked like it had been there a while.
