    Model 99E (1967) .308 extraction issues

1st this is a project gun , I bought it in Mass for $400.00ish ( more then less ) I do not remember , it is in good condition stock is not cracked . It started life as .308 when I purchased it it had a 1/4” of dust on the bolt face from sitting on the shelf with muzzle up. It would not extract consistently , sent it to the gunsmith where he polished the chamber. It will eject new factory ammo most of the time……The long and short of it is I had it rebarreled to .358 win Can’t trust it due to inconsistency it’s basically a muzzle loader because I need a cleaning rod to clear stuck cartridges . Sorry for being so rambling any help is greatly appreciated

Dave, I would start with removing the extractor(put the bolt head in a sandwich bag over a workbench/table to avaiod loosing parts). Simply push the extractor outward with your thumb or other suitable tool. Remove the bearing, detent and the spring if the parts are dirty clean and or replace. Does that help?
I am sorry, I may have mispoke.
