If the tight rounds are reloads, adjust you die correctly.
Anyone own one that wants to comment. I have one that I cut an inch off the stock for my wife to hunt with. We shoot 144 Serria Math kings out of it a 2909fps 53gr. 4831sc. We have hard bolt lift at 54. I shot the first 20 rounds of 143 eldx factory loads at 100 yards. 3'' group was the best. The head space on this gun seems tight. I need to get a go gauge and find out.
What's your experience.
If the tight rounds are reloads, adjust you die correctly.
I am sorry, I may have mispoke.
What are you concerned about? If 54gn is too much, don't load it that high. If 53gn shoots well then use that. You may be able to load it down a little and find an accuracy node. Or adjust set depth just a bit.
Some rifles like one type/weight of bullet better than another.
If you can get near an inch group then that will be sufficient for most hunting.
If you loaded and fired factory loads without an issue then I would not change headspace. Like RH said, just set your dies for your rifle.
With all the different brands of Brass we have the choice of these days a person needs to check water capacity between brands. Those that hold the least water will develop pressure sooner than brass that holds more.
As noted, if the headspace seems tight with your reload adjust your sizing die accordingly. Also check how much spring back you're getting on your brass as that could be a cause as well. Might be time to anneal it or get some fresh brass.
