That was a decent deal on the bullets!
I've never had two rifles with the same cartridge so sizing has always been based on what fits the one gun.
So the new barrel in on the Switchback, the Boyd's stock did need a small amount of fitting for the barrel channel and the Athlon Argos 10-40X56 SFP scope has replaced the Argos 8-34X56 FFP. This new rig with the 28" Bull barrel weighs in at 14.1lbs.
Then today I went to get some measurements to load up some generic rounds to get it sighted in and just a few rounds down range. So I took an old pc of sized brass that had been fired in the old barrel and tried to chamber it. Damb. The bolt would not close on it. Tried a pc of new Starline brass and that cycled just as it should.
Then I took those two pcs of brass and measured them with my Honady comparator along with the GO gauge and a piece of unfired Hornady BLACK 105gr and the Hornady Modified case. The gauge, modified case and the BLACK, all measured 1.1835" The Starline measured 1.1855 and the Hornady brass I have about 3 reloads in measured 1.190"... I think that is quite a large difference between the 2 barrels.
So now that I have some numbers to work with I am going to load using the Starline brass, CCI 400 primers, Lapua Scenar 105gr and Hodgdon BL-C2 and load that up. The BL-C2 has been on my shelf for a while and the Scenar's I received from a friend at the range that bought up 1k of them and didn't like them so I got about 600 of them for 20cents a piece.
Will post results once I shoot these.

So I finally got a chance to shoot this thing while at the range working.. Today was the first day we are now open 7 days per week until and thru deer season, week of Thanksgiving here in Wis. So of course we were slow until the word gets out.
Shot it at 100yds to sight in the scope. The load was a 105gr Lapua Scenar over 25.5gr of BL-2C with a CCI 400 primer in Starline brass.
Very first shot was 12oclock 3" high. Second shot was just below and the third was just to the left of the second. Sadly I have run out of adjustment in this scope and rail combo as I adjusted it all the way down and was still 2" high. But it did shot 2 very nice groups with this untried load. Guess now I need to find a 0 MOA rail to replace this 20MOA one.
Shot it for the second time yesterday. Put the Old Athlon Argos 8-34X56 on it with the 20MOA rail and after a bore sight at home the first shot was @ 8:30 and 3" wide from POA. A quick adjustment brought it right to center.
Using a 17" Shoot'n See target I also placed a 1" Red dot target at 12 o'clock, 1:30 and 10:30 just inside the outer red scoring circle. The loadings this time were again 105 Scenar over A2460 @ 26.0gr, 26.5gr, 27.0gr and 27.5gr. using CCI400 primers and Starline brass. All four loads produced one ragged hole groups at 100yds.
Now to figure out this scope issue and I may swap triggers. This stock one and the one that is one my model 10 that has the target spring and is very sweet.
Glad it is working good for you. Always nice when things come together.
charlie aren't you also a member on the high road? If so I posted a target picture there.
No, just on the Cast Bullet forum.
