I have to admit that would be fun to do :) But, don't own an AR and putting a brake on the Garand is kinda like sacrilege.

Fuj, I saw M14/M1A but not Garand. The stock M14 flash hider had the bottom port solid so it didn't kick up as much dirt when fired prone. It did a little bit to dampen muzzle, but, not much.

There was a 'forked style' Garand flash hider (not a brake) but I don't remember which model it was on, I think there was also a cone shaped flash hider for one of the sniper versions.

For civilian use I do not see a reason for a flash hider.

In the tactical world, flash suppression is very important, especially for low light conditions. My guns are first and foremost for personal protection against bad guys and I believe in and use suppressors on all but my handguns. Bad guys, be they criminal low life's or the government, seem to always come at night. Hiding my flash gives me tactical superiority in that situation.

Charlie....The M1 Garand muzzle brake is in stock. Midway is showing product #891244 with
a pic, discription, and mounting !! As for flash hiders ?? There is a little misconception about
them. Bad people are still going to see you. The main principle of the flash hider is for the
shooter themselves. As barrels got shorter the flash became larger and effecting a soldiers
night vision. Had a hard time trying to tell the new troops not to look at the illumination we were
putting up with the 81's. When the flares went out, they were blind.

Yep, used a lot of flash hiders. They never seemed to make that much difference, even at night. Got to compare several different ones on various guns. The most effective were the cone style, at least for me.

LOL yeah, I've been guilty of looking at the flare :) I think it's the 'training' we get growing up with fireworks shows. My plt sgt tackled me one time when we lit off a flare cause I was too busy checking to make sure it was the right color. :)

Our range had screens on casters you could roll between shooter if you had someone tossing brass.

How about a linear break that exits out the front.

I have shilen 222 Rem barrel on order 20" varmint, .250.neck and 1-12 twist.

I am one that loves linear brakes.
I have them on all my semi-auto rifles.
Helps keep the muzzle down and all the blast goes forward, never bothering the guys next to me at the shooting bench.
    Failure is not an option
