    B17 Scope mounting issue

    Greetings,
Just got a B17, had to use Weaver dual extension rings (medium) to mount a Burris Prevail 3-9x40 scope. Installed my laser foresight and had to max out the elevation turret to get close to the 'dot'. Scope was too low.
I noticed space between bottom of both bases (ring's cross bolt too high? )also, the base Clamps didn't seem to fit closely almost like the base profile was too thick/incorrect profile.
The bases are factory installed/supplied from Savage.
Has anyone else had this issue and if so, any suggestions to correct?
I had to use the dual extension rings to allow for eye relief adjustment.
I've emailed Savage but am wondering if the good people of this forum m8ght be able to offer solution(s).
Rabbit and grouse season is rapidly approaching here in British Columbia and I'm anxious to resolve these issues. On a side note, it seems to me that the base mounting distance is more for the older style scopes with longer distances between the turret body and the start of the lens flare.

    Thanks folks in advance,
    TBCX

I have a 3-9x40 vortex crossfire on mine with vertical split warne aluminum scope rings. I had to put a dab of blue locktite on the screws for the bases. No issue otherwise.

    Thumbs Up

TBCX, Is your scope so short that you need those rings to get to the correct position for your eye? I have a B22 FV - the same stock-recvr - and I have a Cabelas Covenant C-4 6-24x50 w-30mm-tube, mounted with Vortex Pro LOW rings. It's a little high due to the 50mm bell, but I got a $30 cheek riser to meet the scope. The bases were Factory OEM, as yours are I believe. The Vortex LOW rings are made in 1" which should fit your scope.
I wonder if your laser was adjusted well ? I used an 'in-the-bore' laser to set up my scope and had no trouble; what sort is yours?
I just looked for those rings and found them on amazon, with a Poor review. Maybe they are your prob ? https://www.amazon.ca/Weaver-Rings-D.../dp/B000KOU28G
Hope you can figure this out.

    SOLVED
Thanks for your responses and suggestions. I removed the factory bases and installed 15m Weaver brand bases. Minor adjustments and the scope and barrel are looking at the same spot . Just need a range visit to dial it in and all set for hunting .
I just want to note that actual Weaver bases are thicker than the factory ones. The bases seat as they should as do the Clamps.
    All the best folks
