I recently had to sell my 10/22 but after the emergency was paid I had enough to get a Savage Mark 2 basic trigger model at Walmart for $88 on clearance. I may upgrade the trigger in the future but with squirrel season in now through February, I thought I would set the scope. I have on it a Simmons 22 mag 3-9x32 and it set real fast and seems to be clear enough to take tree chickens. My question is how many have shot different grains and they hit right with each other? I have 40 grain Federal auto match lead and hit dead center at 30 yds in a 1 inch circle with a 3 shot group that looks like one big hole in a larger caliber. I decided to try Federal 36 grain cphp and Winchest 36 grain cphp to see the hit difference. They hit center but about 1/2 inch high but still in circle with groups again tearing into one another. Is this the norm for most ammo close to the same grain? I have always used Federal but those Winchesters were clearanced at Walmart to good to pass up. I also set at 30 yds because all I use my 22lr for is plinking and squirrel hunt in close in the woods. Thanks
