Nice work, save the fawns!! Have a momma and 2 fawns living here at my place. Weather she had 2 or adopted 1 I don't know but she has 2 with her constantly. So far no fawns killers but I keep an eye out for them.
Looking out my kitchen window and I see the first fawn of the year so I call my daughter to tell her that a fawn is in between our houses. She couldn't see it but says that there are coyotes in the middle of the hay field that was just cut two hours ago.
I ran to the basement and grabbed the 22.250AI and ran back up to the back porch. The gun is a left handed, Savage model 11, large shank that was trued by Fred and has one of his SharpShooter triggers installed. I'm shooting the 36 grain Barnes Varmint Grenades at 4,400 fps and sighted in at 300 yards. I see two adult yotes and three half grown pups just in front of my deer blind which is 315 yards from my porch.
First shot and one adult down while the other adult streaks off. One of the pups stops at the tree line at about 305 yards but I missed it.
I shot the female. She looked like she had already weaned the pups.
