    B Mag 17 Firing Problem

While sighting in a new B Mag 17 with Hornady 20 grain bullets, the bullet exploded in the chamber on the 12th round fired. The bolt was very stiff and jacking shells in and out of the chamber was difficult. The damage resulting from this blew out all of the pieces surrounding the trigger on the bottom of the rifle. The clip and all screw in pieces were destroyed. Fortunately the bullet went out the barrel. Has anyone else had a problem like this? I called Savage and they stated they have heard of it happening but it was always ammo related and very rare. They sent me a shipping label and it's on it's way back to Savage.

It sounds like a head space problem. Hopefully Savage will send you a new gun.

    Good luck..!
