First bolt gun and new to the savage family. I got a savage 110 tactical .308 in a trade. I just ordered the new vortex strike eagle 5x25x56 strike eagle (34 mm tube). I have no idea as to what ring height i need. Attached is a pic of the base that I assume is the stock base. Can anyone help with selecting the right rings? Thanks in advance!

That will help you figure your scope ring height, so in your case I think it is saying a hair over 2".

put your gun on a table with a bag or something that will hold the rifle upright. Now stack two stacks of even numbers of pennies up on the rail one front and one back, set the scope on it. Do it until you have the scope in the position you want it for the type of shooting you will do. You should have clearance between the objective and the barrel. Measure the stacks of pennies and this is the height of your rings. Unless the rings are measured to the center line of the scope. Then it should be the penny height + 17 mm.
17mm = .669

This may help you.

The bottom of this chart is your your 34mm
What side of town are you on?

I actually use key stock I keep in my machinist box. It is really a simple concept. I don't remember if I thought of it or I read it somewhere. I'm certain I was not the first.
Now I think of it in terms of circles, the barrel diameter, Scope tube and objective diameter and the action diameter. I make a sketch and determine how high my mount is and the ring height falls into place.

If buying Warne (I've gone to them exclusively) you'll need the tall ones. https://www.opticsplanet.com/warne-r...igh-rings.html
I've got a 56 mm Sightron and there's a good amount of clearance with that combination.
Is that a 20 moa rail on the 110?
Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.
If you plan to use flip-up type scope covers like Butler Creek, be sure to account for their thickness when determining your clearance needs.
I like the Warne fixed rings myself.
Did you have a certain brand in mind?

Not sure if you bought rings yet but 1" height will work with that scope. My Strike Eagle is on my 40 MOA base Vudoo with Warne Mountain Tech mediums which are a little over 1" in height. Plenty of room. I also use 1" height on my other rifles with 34mm tubed 56mm objective Razor IIs.
You need to post a picture of it
OH and I think Medium height rings will work.
Sorry not right rifle.

Here’s a pretty simple calculator. Plug in a couple measurements (including using flip up scope caps) and get your answer.

BTW, have you chosen yet? Here’s something else I’ve found rather interesting, concerning scope mounting. Big reason I ONLY use 1-piece mounts(the rings, my bases). But I do like TPS rings, if that was my only option.

Rings work just fine when quality components are used. One piece set ups are generally higher and unless you have an adjustable comb can cause issues getting a good cheek weld and sight picture.
I prefer one piece also but alot of my rifles are ARs so I've become accustomed to one piece cantilevered mounts but I've swapped them over to my bolts on occasion and found the worked just as well there. I really like Warne but recently got a couple aeroprecision mounts and they are VERY nice, the way the rings go together you don't get scope role as you torque them down
