Stevens 200 short action= Savage Mdl. 10 short action??

I have a Stevens Mdl. 200 in .223 with screw spacing of 4.2 and appears to be center feed (I think). The magazine stays attached to the stock when the action is removed from the stock. Would this be considered to be the same as the Savage Mdl. 10 short action rifles? It is only about two years old. Thanks for any info.

Turns out I was measuring the wrong action, DUH, it is actually 4.4 spacing.

It would be 4.27 and that is a stagger feed. I would say that it may have been bought as new 2 yr's ago but it is older than that. All part's for a stagger feed mod 10 should interchange.

It should be 4.4" center to center on the screws. Staggerfeeds were out of production 2 years ago by a fair bit of time can't remember what year exactly.

If the magazine stays in the stock it should be a centerfeed, and my guess is you're not measuring the bolts exactly center to center. Here is a thread on magazine removal and identification.

Yes it is the same action as the current model 10/11 Savage short actions with the side bolt release.

I was 'told' that it was about two years old but you know how that goes. It is 4.2737 center to center on the screw spacing, I spent enough in a machine shop to get that part right. Srl# G9886XX

Well just cause it was two years old doesn't mean it wasn't old stock.

    very true.

Didn't intend to offend your measurement skills, it is just a common mistake to make. That said if the mag stays in the stock it should look like the first picture in the thread I posted the link to above. That would be a centerfeed.

Also, FWIW, that serial number is about 14,000 units higher number than my earliest centerfeed.

Does the bottom of the action have slots cut into it for a SF magazine? There is a pic in that thread also.

No offense taken, I just figured you were used to some people measuring things with a tape measure and coming up with a measurement. Mine looks like the one in the top photo inCenterfeed Blind Mag Removal. It seems to be a second gen short action with centerfeed mag. My mag does have a spacer in the rear. Can't seem to be able to turn off the 'Bold' type now. LOL

NO, no, no, it's a 3rd Gen Short Action. I measured right, just the wrong action. Dumb, dumb dumb.

Kind of odd that you have 4.27" spacing though, if you can snap some detailed pics of the bottom of the action and post them up, or if you can't post them email them to me and I'll throw them up. I am just wondering how you got 4.27" on a CF mag equipped rifle.

Well now I feel stupid, my measuring skills are still intact though, wait for it, here it comes.............BUT I was measuring the wrong action. I had two actions out of their stocks this morning and wasn't paying attention to which one I was measuring this evening. Seems to be a 3rd Gen Short Action.

I was wondering why everyone couldn't understand I was getting 4.2 on my measurement, I even rechecked it at least three times then I realized it was the wrong action. At one time I had the wrong action in one hand while I had the stock with the cf mag in the other.

Some guns at that store just don't sell well. I also just bought a brand new Glock 37 that they had since 2003.

That may be a good thing. You must have a real blued barrel. It was 2006 that the matte barrels came in

Part of my original post was asking if the Stevens 200 short action I have is the same as the Savage Mdl. 10 action?

I've had a few marble break loose in there myself. Every once in a while they all role into place again if only for a short while, and then they are loose in there again.
