This bullet shot well for me in both 223 and Savage Heavy Barrel 22-250 1-12 Twist.
Took it out this afternoon for the third go with the H4895 powder combination
So far no three shot group has gone over .50" and the one below is the best so far.

Axis 223 22" Barrel Weaver Scope
    ADI Brass
    Federal 205 Primer
    Hornady 60gr V-Max OAL=2.35"
    H4895 24gr
Nice results WBM. I actually just picked up some Accurate 2495..it’s really close burn rate to H4895 & I’ve read they have very similar burning characteristics, BESIDES just the burn rate. Don’t know how true this is. Had a few choices in Accurate. They had Accurate 2460 & 2520. But I couldn’t pass up the price of the 2495. And I haven’t tried any of them anyway. Also, this is for my AR so obviously SUPREME accuracy isn’t really top of the agenda.

I hear ya about the AR...but years ago I did have a Bushmaster Varminter that was very accurate...only thing was you had to have a "gun bearer" to tote it around for ya.
What with the powder shortage. I have loaded powders for 223 and 22-250 that I never fooled around with much. Like once I was out of 8208XBR and Benchrest I went to others like IMR 4064 and H4895. Had Varget of course but I have never been a big fan of Varget in 223...why? Idoknow.

I’m sorry, I didn’t the rifle itself. The ARs I build are extremely capable. However, I load the bulk of ammunition for magazine length. If I’m testing the accuracy, I’ll load single. So OAL is not a factor.

77 grain TMK over 24 grains of CFE223. Bullet seated .010" OTL. 2843 fps in my rifle. .618" at 200 yards 5 shots. 83 degrees with 82% humidity. No wind to speak of. Fired from Factory stainless 26" barrel, fluted. Load is a bit warm in my rifle at the current seating depth but not close to max.

    Pet Factory Loads

Hornady's Frontier 55gr HPBT Match 223 ammunition is available again so I got a couple boxes. Took them out this morning for another "test run". These have done well for me in the past. Always looking for factory ammunition that I can pick up, shoot in a clean barrel and expect decent results. The Frontier 55gr Match stuff has always done that for me. FWIW: These are done by Lake City for Hornady.

Very nice! Wish I could do even CLOSE to that on my best day, LOL! Ah well, I had a time of very good accuracy. I can still hit what I aim at, no problem. But my days of ONE RAGGED HOLE, are long gone.

    Great shooting wbm. Very impressive.

Mine too David...well 99 percent of the time. Actually I was out with my AR and, new to me, Fiocchi 55gr FMJBT Range Dynamics. They did not do well in the AR but did great in the Axis.
Happened to have the 60 V-Max hand loads in my ammo box so i gave them a go in the AR...Meh...fair.

But they done good in the Axis!

Years ago I shot a incredible 3 shot group with the 60 grain vmax and Win. 748 out of my Savage 10FPLE2A .223 . So last week I tried the 53 Grain Vmax's in the same gun doing a ladder test using H335, Win 748 and H322. The H322 had the tightest group at about .25 in. Best load was 23.5 grains. No signs of pressure. As always work up the loads to work in your rifle.

    Had one of those also.

Wish I could find 335 here.

Yeah, I haven’t seen 335 AT ALL, for it seems almost 2 years. Last summer, I picked up 2# of Accurate 2495 when powder had ALL been sold out online & stores for like 6-9mo. Midway was just starting to get it in at the time. They had that, 2460 & X-Terminator at the time. But the 2495 was at a price I couldn’t pass up, no matter how bad it’s gonna be. LOL! It was like $24/lb. Then, a couple months later, they got inn BLC-2 & I nabbed another 2lbs. So I’m sitting ok with powder. For ME, as I’m unable to get out as much as I’d like. I’ve only shot once in the last year! (Pathetic, I know.)

Our Sportsmans was starting to get a stockpile of powder. They had stuff like Win 748, 760, 296, 231 IMR 4198, Varget (yes, several cans), etc, etc. Probably 40 1lb canisters. Then there was a gun show in town and it all disappeared again.

Yeee-up! That’s how it’s wrote now.. Need to be patient, diligent & jump on it when you can. I feel fortunate to have gotten these 2 cans of BLC-2. Especially since it’s my top 223 powder anyway.

In a factory stock model 10 in 223, a 73 gr Berger, Varget, LC brass and BR-4 primer has been taking the prize money fairly consistently at 100 yd varmint for score competitions here in Austin. Stuff the Berger into the lands and the heal sits on top of the charge. Not compressed, but just about a max charge with that bullet and a stock chamber. When the wind is blowing 15 to 20 and you're cleaning the targets, plus a few X's, that's pretty remarkable shooting for a stock Savage, or any stock rifle for that matter.

Just so you know I'm not blowing smoke. http://benchrest.com/showthread.php?...ts-Feb-27-2022
Banning a gun will not solve what is a mental health crisis inflamed by incendiary rhetoric on social and television media. The first amendment in this case is less precious and more likely the causal factor than the second amendment.

    Very cool!

Since the larger Bergers do so well in my .308 I have thought about using them in the .223. Maybe I'll have to jump in there. :)
