For 2012 Savage Arms decided to add an upgraded secondary line of package rifles to their lineup. The old Hunter XP series fitted with a standard trigger and Bushnell 3-9x40mm optic remains for those with a limited budget, or the customer can step up to the new Trophy Hunter XP series which features the AccuTrigger and a 3-9x40mm Nikon optic for a modest increase in price.

Additional new models include the Model 111 Long
Range Hunter in .338 Lapua Mag. This new model is equipped with the AccuStock, Karsten adjustable comb, 26" heavy barrel with detachable muzzlebrake and a detachable box magazine.

Also new this year is the Model 111 Hog Hunter which features a olive synthetic stock, 20-inch medium sporter barrel, iron sights and an internal box magazine.

The new Model 116 Alaskan Brush Hunter is very similar to the 111 Hog Hunter, but comes in stainless steel with a black synthetic stock and it's chambered for larger cartridges more suitable for Alaska's bigger game.

Slug fans haven't been left out as Savage has included a new Model 220 Camo Stainless model in 20-gauge for 2012.

For the ladies Savage has added the all new Model 11/111 Lady Hunter. This new model is specifically designed to accommodate the unique geometry of the female form with a shorter length-of-pull, higher comb, closer and smaller diameter grip, slimmer forend and reduced front-end weight.

Those into tactical rifles will find that the new Model 10 FCP-SR is right up your alley. This model is fitted with digital camo AccuStock, 10-round AICS-style detachable box magazine, and a 20 or 24-inch fluted heavy barrel with threaded muzzle.

In the Axis Series there is a new Axis SR featuring a threaded muzzle as well as a new left-hand version of the Axis in both adult and youth sizes. My review of a left-hand Axis in .25-06 can be found here.

Savage is also introducing the new Rascal series for 2012, an all new single-shot rimfire line specifically for smaller kids just starting their journey into the shooting sports. Hardwood and sythetic stocked models are available, as are both right and left-hand models.

On the shotgun front there's a full new line of Stevens pump-action shotguns under the 320 model number. The new 320 shotguns utilize the tried and true Winchester 1300 design with rotating bolt. Several different Security models are offered with your choice of a vertical pistol grip or a more traditional pistol grip. There is also a Field model for the avid hunters out there.
