    110 Tactical 25-06

    Hi,
I am new to the forum, and wanted some ideas, opinions, and suggestions that have been done with some of you guys that have this gun. From what ammo is shooting best for you all, to after market stocks and so on. I have a 110 tactical 25-06 heavy barrel, synthetic stock, and a 18-40x50 scope. I have always used it for shooting for fun, and am fairly accurate at 200 yards, can keep it on the target at 300 yards. I have never shot further than that, but would like to be able to.

Thanks for all the help in advance.

I've had three of these rifles in the past. Still own one. The best factory ammo i found for it was Hornady's 117 btsp light magnum. It would shoot about 1 moa. But, it really came alive with handloads. It shoots 1/2 to 3/4 moa with them. I had it in an ultimate varmint stock for a while, and now it's in a Duramax.

My 110 FP 25-06 loved the Hornady 117 SST ammo both factory and hand loads. It also liked 85gr Nos BT, and 100gr Barnes TSX hand loads.

I would suggest if your 18-40X scope is a Barska or similar, get rid of it, and spend some money on a decent scope, with max of 14-20X range and a good reticle. Good base and rings will help also. The Duramaxx is a good stock. I had mine bedded in a Boyd's Thumbhole Varminter and it looked and felt great!

Yes, I need to upgrade the scope, at the time I was on a tighter budget and went with the NcStar, but I did spend the money on better scope mounts at the time.

If I get a stock for it I would like to get a thumbhole stock, as it is comfortable to me, is there any brands, that are easier to install than others, I would hate to get an overpriced stock, and then tear it up fitting it to the gun.

I have been shooting winchester 100 grain ballistic tip, as it is the best round I have found to buy locally. I would be willing to learn to reload, but have never done it before.

If I am going to have the gun broke down putting a stock on, should I go ahead and do a trigger job on it, and what would you recomend if so.

    Thanks,

Check Boyds website for a thumbhole stock. Under $100 and a drop in fit. Make sure you know what your mtg screw hole distance is when you look to make sure the Boyds stock will fit. The sell walnut and laminates.

Or you can buy a beautiful laminate Joel Russo(russoriflestocks.com) stock from me. I have a laminate thumbhole with a hinged floorplate for sale.
