I finally got to see a couple Savage LWH's in person at Whittaker Guns, Owensboro, KY. I really liked the fit and feel. The DBM frame, the bottom plate on the DBM and the trigger guard are plastic. The barrel is definitely a #1 featherweight contour. The stock is walnut with a satin finish similar to the 14 Classic. Looks like it has a .8" Parchymr Decelerator recoil pad. I liked the fluted bolt. Not real crazy about the vent holes along the bottom of the forearm. But they will most like help cool the thin barrel faster. Only thing that saved me from buying one on the spot was they had only a short action 6.5 Creedmore and a long action in 6.5 284 Norma.
