    why I love my obsolete 6.5 rem mag


    I put a E. R. Shaw 26 inch varmit barrel 6.5 rem mag on my 110 Savage long action.
    here is how it compares to my Remington 264 mag.
    both with a 120 grain amax.

    6.5 rem mag
    120 gr RL22 62.5 gr 3475 fps 421 bc
    Max Point blank range is 335 yds when zeroed at 285 yds.

    Thank you for the information!

    The only thing that stopped my 6.5 Rem Mag from getting super velocity was the depth of the seated bullet for the little Remington action it was initually put in.

    In an action where the bullet could be seated out correctly it was everything the 6.5 WSM is today and 30 years ahead of the WSM cartridges.

    These loads my be hot for anothers application.
