    Re: TANG???

I bed under the tang and relieve the sides and end so that the tang when under recoil does not pressure the stock into a split

    Re: TANG???

Personally I have never heard of anyone here suggesting bedding the tang of a Savage rifle.

I do believe you bed the tang of Remington rifles, but not sure why one way or the other, except with savages, supposedly it puts uneven pressure on the action from recoil and will shoot open groups.

Savages from what little I know of it, should have the pillars and recoil lug bedded and everything else free floated.

If you want to know the real answer from a Savage gunsmith then ask SSS.

    Re: TANG???

Theres no need to bed anything behind the rear action screw. Why take a chance on inducing stress on the action if not
needed. If you bed the tang and don't tighten the action screws the same every time it could stress the action. Besides it
    easier not to.
