    barrel configuration

just purchased a .22-250 barrel the other day from someone on Gun Broker..barrel arrived, and I suspected it had a built in barrel band in it..actually, I've seen a barrel like this and it was a bulge , if you will, in the barre,l for a place to dovetail a rear site on...when did Savage use these type barrels?

I've decided not to use this one on my rebarreling project cause i would have to modify the stock. Ordered one instead from gunparts.com.

    Re: barrel configuration

If your talking about what I think you are, that is an old style barrel that has a recess in the back and uses a different style bolt head. (Made 1959-1966) here is what they bolt head looks like.
