Model 12 extractor:

I have a Model 12 BTVS in 223 super accurate but it tears up rim of case I like using Laupa brass and sad to see good brass destroyed, question how to fix extractor, gunsmith? or possible to do myself.

Appreciate the any info.

Extractors and anything Savage is a do it yourself job since they are so easy to do work on.
Try replacing it, the ball & spring, all of 5 min.
Cant say what it is as I have not had it happen on any of my Savages though.

Agree, my first thought was simply replace, will go that route.
