Savage 219

Newby here... looking for a single-shot 30-30 for < 100 yd target shooting.... and have become interested in the Savage 219.... besides 30-30 & .22 Hornet, what calibers did these break-action rifles come in, and can brass still be obtained or formed for them ? I reload... Thanks, George

Believe they were also available in 25-20 and 32-20. Good luck in finding either caliber; everyone wants one!

If you find one, especially a combo gun, get it and don't think twice. I had found a 16ga/25-20 combo gun before I knew what I was looking at. It had an asking price of around $200 or a little less if I recall and was in great shape. Come to find out the 25-20 barrel alone was worth more than that. I put up a post on here asking for advice on it, since I didn't know, and it was sold by the next day.

The .30-30 and .22 Hornet calibers are fairly plentiful, but you will have a hard time finding the .25-20 and .32-20. Good luck! See "Gunboards" site. There are normally 4 or 5 and any given time for sale. Some are reasonable, some are rediculasly priced.
