Model 12 WSM action or 12 target action

What's the difference bettween the two? As I understand it both are large shank.

What is a 12 WSM action?

If you asking if a target action is better than a standard action the answer is no. The only advantage is the target action has the option of a dual port or a right bolt left port.

Sorry for the confusion. I was told all model 12's in in wsm calibers were large shank actions. Are these actions the same actions used in the LRPV's minus the target trigger?

The RUM and SUM guns used large shank actions. I think the WSM calibers used a standard shank. The LRPV uses a target action, it is a large shank, they are chambered in 204, 223, 22/250 and 6BR, no WSM calibers. The new Savage LRP is chambered in 260, 6.5 Credmore, and 243.

I believe in 2002 Rum,Sum, and wsm all went to a large shank. Just wondering if there was anything other than the target trigger that was different bettween the 2.

i have a 12vlp in 300 wsm it is a large shank action the differance is target actions are single shot have 3 action screws and dual port or a single port small port opening the 12 wsm is a repeater with a larger port opening the targets are said to be stiffer but is it going to change possible accuracy? the target would also have a target accu-trigger i would rather have the sss trigger

Yes the WSM's have been large shank actions for a while now. Not sure what year they changed but it's been a while. I have a new model 12vlp 300wsm and it is a large shank.
